Ram Head Earrings

!

The mold for these was made from an antique Victorian piece we purchased to reproduce for our Sheep and Wool line. We have fashioned these as comfortable post earrings with surgical steel posts and ear nuts.  The rams are cast in fine detail and they are stunning.   We just added these to our sheep and textile jewelry line this May. They are cast in 100% fine, jeweler's pewter and contain no lead. The pewter has a 2% sterling content to add hardness and shine.  Each ram's head is about 5/8" wide. They look a bit like Merinos, Rambouillet or Persian rams.  Perhaps They show Greek influence and come from Classical Greece or the Roman Empire.  They definitely look like something from an ancient civilization and that's why we were so attracted by the design.
