Celtic Canines Tryptic is one of our most popular designs.   Cast in 100% lead free pewter it is a most striking clasp.  Each side's disc is slightly over 1 and 1/2 inches across. The design was loosely based on a knotwork pattern on a Scottish stone but the design was reinterpreted  by the artist Beth Maxwell Boyle. This is a large 3  7/8 inch Celtic clasp meant for a cape or cloak.  The three eyelets are provided on each side to sew the clasp at the throat of any riding or fencing cape.  We sell these to hand spinners, Renaissance artisans, and reenacters and they are meant to endure hard wear without bending or breaking.  Many imported clasps can only be used on light fabric.  These are cast of the finest grade of lead-free jewelers pewter and are designed to work on heavy wool, velvet or whatever. The discs are slightly domed and the piece has an antique finish as shown.   For more fine Celtic jewelry check our other auctions running currently on eBay.  Coming soon, matching earrings to the Celtic Canine Clasp,  brooch and buttons now being offered.   Copyright 1999,  James Edward Boyle and Beth Maxwell Boyle,  All Rights Reserved.
