These Celtic Crane Buttons are really ornate and beautiful.  If you study the design closely you will see this is a zoomorphic pattern made up of four intertwined water birds. This is a large button and is 15/16" or just under and inch.  They look very good on a coat or heavy men's cardigan.  They are also great on capes and cloaks! These wonderful hand cast buttons have a large hole or loop in the back to accommodate yarn or thread.  These are among our most elegant buttons. They are made of a high grade jeweler's pewter.

5/8 Inch

These buttons are such a nice size for sweaters and the bold Celtic spiral design looks so classic on hand knit garments.  We sell allot of these to weavers and knitters.  To the best of our knowledge we are the only producers of Celtic buttons.   I have had interest in these even in the UK because they can't find Celtic buttons!  These were hand cast in lead-free pewter that contains 2% real silver!  This is a nice hard pewter that holds its shine better and is harder wearing than most pewter.  There are four of these Celtic Spiral, 5/8 " buttons on a green card. The loop on the back was designed to take bulky yarn or thread!

These buttons are only a little different from our other Celtic Spiral but they have a little border around them.  That little ring sets off the design nicely and makes them a little bigger.  I use this style allot as it is a great size and a very classic design.  As with all our buttons ,these are handcrafted in fine lead-free jeweler's pewter that contains 2% real silver.  These are hand cast in our studio over the horse barn and polished to a warm glow.  The back loop is large enough to accommodate bulky knitting yarn.  The buttons are  exactly  3/4 inch!    There are four buttons on the card.

Deep Etched Spiral

3/4 Inch

These buttons are a deep etched Celtic spiral design that amazingly looks allot like Southwest Indian pottery from the Zuni tribe.  Since this bold spiral is deep etched and so wonderfully simple I find they look good on Norwegian style sweaters, Irish cable knit, and Southwest patterned sweaters.  This is a great size to have on hand for vests or cardigans. They are just shy of 3/4 inch.

Celtic Canines is one of our newest button designs.  Cast in 100% lead free pewter they are striking buttons.  Each button is 3/4 inch and hand cast and antiqued in our studio. The design was loosely based on a knotwork pattern on a Scottish stone but the design was reinterpreted  by the artist Beth Maxwell Boyle who owns Cardigan Welsh Corgis and a Border Collie.    There is a large loop on the back so you can sew these on with handspun yarn or bulky thread.  These are excellent for hand knit or hand spun garments and are popular with artisans and reenacters.  Sold only in packs of four.  For more fine Celtic buttons and  jewelry check our other auctions running currently on eBay.  Coming soon, matching earrings to the Celtic Canine Buttons and Brooch.

Spinning Wheel Buttons-Pack of 4

5/8 Inch

Our Spinning wheel buttons were just introduced in May at the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival.  Now on eBay for the first time you can purchase these directly from the artist for your hand made garments. These nice little engraved spinning wheel buttons are the perfect size for vests and such.  The buttons are 5/8 inch and have a large loop so knitting yarn can pass through.  The design was taken from a 19th Century, steel engraved,  printers block and converted into this solid jewelers pewter button by the artist/jeweler, James E. Boyle.  They are hand cast in lead-free pewter by the artist. The spinning wheel buttons are part of the pewter collection in the Rams Horn textile arts catalog.

Bunny Buttons-Card of 4

5/8 Inch

Here is a pack of four little rabbit buttons on a card. These detailed and delightful, little buttons are the most recent addition to our button line here at the Rams Horn Studio.   We made a mold for these from a lovely antique button from the 19th Century.   It is a light weight button with a nice feel and is 5/8". These would be particularly nice on a vest or child's dress. They are cast in lead-free, jeweler's pewter as was the original and  finished with a warm antique finish that matches the patina on the vintage one. The original is a most charming Victorian carving of a rabbits head surrounded by grasses in a little raised frame.  We couldn't resist buying and reproducing this one!. We found the antique rabbit button in Lancaster, PA the heart of Amish Country.

Viking Ship Button-Card of 4

3/4 Inch

These are a very handy size and weight button for sweaters and other garments you might hand weave or knit.  We also have several customers who use these buttons on leather pouches. They are about 3/4" but are ever so slightly larger. We recently purchased the original button in an antique store in Lancaster, PA and made a mold of this wonderful detailed Viking ship button.  We believe the original was made in Scandinavia in the 40s.   These buttons are hand cast in solid, lead-free, jeweler's pewter as are all our pieces on eBay.  You are bidding on a card of four.   Please note the scan is not nearly as nice as the real thing.  I'm having trouble showing the nice contrast and deep carving of the ship.

I adore these dog buttons. They are cast by hand from leadfree jeweler's pewter.  The mold was made by artist/jeweler, James Boyle from a 19th Century Victorian stamping of a Newfoundland Dog's head.  The pack contains four beautifully antiqued buttons.  These buttons would be best suited to a garment such as a coat or heavy cardigan sweater. They are one inch wide!  The loops on the back are large enough for yarn to pass through.  These buttons have become a very popular part of our line of knitters and weavers accessories.
